Luna Moth Pinning Class
a group class designed to teach moth pinning techniques
Service Description
The Species: Luna Moth (Actias luna) This is a class in which we will discuss different pinning techniques, where to source specimens, rehydration methods, we will perform the actual pinning/ spreading of the Luna Moth, discuss proper storage and how to display them, and then you will go home with a fully pinned moth! Everything you need for the class will be provided: a moth specimen, tweezers, pinning needles, pinning board, pinning paper, and a shadow box. You will get to keep all the materials for future use/ at home practice. The specimens for this class were hand raised by a small time rearer & nature lover. They died naturally as their adult life stage is only 7-14 days. This art is about honoring them and their very short lives. Nothing- I use- is ever killed for this purpose. These are my ethics and what it means, to me, to source sustainably. All participants have to be 18+ years old No previous knowledge of specimen pinning is required *No refunds unless you alert me over a week in advance*
